How To Measure A Rubber Band
The two metrics used to measure a rubber band are its flat length, and its total circumference. The flat length is measured by folding/flattening the band itself, and measuring the length of that material. The total circumference is measured with the band in its typical rounded shape, ensuring it is kept slack/unstretched. For example, a 3” rubber band will have a flat length of 3 inches, and a total circumference of 6 inches.

Grades of Rubber Band
The various grades of rubber bands are determined by the amount of pure gum rubber contained in the band, which also determines how much the band will stretch.
Why Band Count Matters
Rubber Bands are sold by weight – specifically, by the pound. Approximate per-pound band counts are provided with each quote, based on the weight requested.
The number of rubber bands per each pound (“CPP”) is important to know when determining your cost per each band. The more pure rubber contained in the band, the lighter the band is; therefore you will get more rubber bands in each pound. That is why at times you may pay more per pound, but pay less per piece.

The elasticity of standard bands range from 700% to 750%, depending on the specific type of band and its intended application.
